CASXIO popped a single in my ears recently and boy did it rumble.
They are a coke-funk quartet from LA and if you wanted something fresh
and better than your average band to jump onto the dance wagon, here it is.
They are gonna be so damn hot if their album
turns and churns out tracks like seventeen.
Pretty damn insanely catchy!
They played at the viper room on monday
and if you missed it you should be catching them at SXSW.
you have to grab seventeen……..

sunday sounds: Chris Garneau
Published February 24, 2008 chris garneau , music for tourists , sunday sounds , tashed 0 CommentsChris Garneau is signed to absolutely kosher records and with fellow artistes
such as xiu xiu, sunset rubdown, the mountain goats and even frog eyes,
this dude fits in to the label with incredible ease.
His music is really really really tender and is made for the dark.
Don’t get too sad listening to him though,
its quite easy to feel too much with that voice of his.
He was featured on greys anatomy in the past as well.
A stellar artist with a stellar voice makes him very difficult to ignore.

BOOK: japrocksampler by julian cope
Published February 22, 2008 jap , japrocksampler. julian cope , rock 0 Comments
This book has a great load of details on Japan’s music influences after World War 2. Julian Cope has done a great job discovering the culture and background of the rock scene in Japan. Very interesting read and makes you really wanna track down the records featured in the book. Definitely for people who get a tingly feeling after knowing a bit more about how the music we hear today has been derived.

mosaic madness.
Published February 21, 2008 broken social scene , feist , festival , fujiya miyagi , mosaic , mum , sondre lerche , tashed , the bird and the bee 0 Commentsmosaic mania is about to hit singapore in a few weeks and this years lineup
might not have the likes of jose gonzales but i have a few favorites
that really got me all excited.
when i said a few i actually meant quite a few.
go HERE to see the full lineup.
1. Múm
Múm is an experimental icelandic band
and they produce really light tender electronic beats
excellent to dream to and drift away to.
They will be performing at the concert hall on the 13th of march.
mp3|Múm- we have a map of the piano
2. The Bird and the Bee
Its not the first time im mentioning about the bird and the bee
and they are a favorite here at !tashed.
If i were to spend money to watch just one band besides BSS (below)
for the mosaic fest it would definitely be them.
They have recently released a new EP one too many hearts and its absolutely delightful.
Their cover of how deep is your love is really really good.
They will be playing at the theatre studio on the 12th of march.
mp3| The bird and the bee- Come as you were

3. Fujiya & Miyagi
If you are goin into an electronic rage and madness,
This is where you should be headed to.
I will promise you will walk away from their performance chanting
fujiya miyagi, fujiya miyagi…..
Oh and they aren’t japanese but from the UK. Please watch them.
They will be performing on the 14th of march at the theatre studio.
mp3|Fujiya & Miyagi- Collarbone
mp3|Fujiya & Miyagi- Ankle injuries
4. Broken Social scene
What Broken Social Scene has done for indie, i cant even begin to explain.
They are not called a supergroup for nothing.
They are a collective, not just a band
and most of their members(19!) have their own personal projects.
Most notably, leslie feist who was nominated for a grammy recently-best new artist
(and lost to a crack head named amy winehouse)
They have produced so much its unbelievable.
catch them at the concert hall on the 9th of march.
mp3| BSS- Anthems for a seventeen year old girl
mp3|Feist- sealion (chromeo remix)
5. Sondre lerche
Sondre lerche is a norwegian folk artiste
who will most likely enchant you.
but dont take my words for it.
Hes the main man on the dan in real life soundtrack if you didnt know.
Hes playin on the 14th of march at the concert hall.

JUNO.
Published February 17, 2008 barry louis polisar , film , juno , soundtrack , the moldy peaches 0 CommentsJUNO was released in Singapore on valencrime’s day.
While i know it was a hit in the states and peeps there are totally
sick of hearing anymore publicity of Juno,
i’m still gonna do my part in helping with sales of the soundtrack
which fit the movie to a T.
Its not an album you can listen to all the time
and neither can it feed your hungry ears for songs with mind blowing lyrics
but its still a steal and its quite the indie-twee-pop which gets to me at times.
The trailer itself destroyed the spunk and stole the good lines of the movie
but nonetheless i believe Jason Reitman produced exactly what he wanted
a TYFS-esque movie which could hit the mainstream and induce us with his
dry humour which at times can be too cute for my liking.
I implore you to watch the movie still, it being far better than most films showing.
grab my 2 favorite songs from the movie and remember
to get the album here.
I have added the recording of ‘anyone else but you‘
sung by ellen page and michael cera themselves.
