Some people frown when some of their favorite bands get more mainstream appeal.
Its like loving them but hoping they never go out and be famous because you only want it to be special for you.
Selfish asses.
Kings of Leon recently released their new album Only By The Night.
And i must say, they have grown up. Maturity bleeds through in this album.
I would say this album has more mainstream appeal than any before.
Sex on fire, their first single has already peaked at the top of the UK charts, albeit in digital downloads, but it was even before the album release.
Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t sell out.
They are still as raw as ever, but this album..this album will make stadiums erupt in euphoria.
The lyrics aren’t mind boggling, but say goodbye to the raspy vocals of the past and greet the latest crisp, dirty, rock and roll anthems.
A particular criteria of a good album to me is one molded together and littered with tracks you just cannot forget, and Only By The Night is definitely one of them with their first single Sex on Fire just a sideshow to the real deal in the albums entirety.
The sons of a preacher man have mentioned that they have mellowed their crazy lifestyle, bonded together alot more and have had the creative freedom they wanted, which might just be the reasons for their best album by far.
It seems this is the album they were destined to make, and make them worthy of headlining Glastonbury.
I don’t get why America don’t love their own in Kings of Leon, but now let the rest of the world embrace.
